Last year EZ Lay Flooring donated $10,000 to Doctors Without Borders Canada

Dear EZ Lay Flooring Dealers,

Last year EZ Lay Flooring donated $10,000 on behalf of you, our customers, to Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders Canada (MSF) in response to the unprecedented Ebola outbreak in West Africa in lieu of Christmas presents to our customers. At EZ Lay Flooring, we make it a priority to reach out to the local and global community in times of need, and we would like to share with you what our donation has done to help stem one of the largest and most devastating outbreaks in the history of the virus.

Ebola is a viral disease that can be difficult to diagnose in the early stages, due to non-specific symptoms that can mimic those of malaria, cholera, or the flu. Transmitted through direct contact with blood, bodily secretions, organs, and those infected, people that are infected have a 50% chance of recovery once they are diagnosed. On March 22, 2014, the Ebola outbreak was declared by the Guinean Ministry of Health and was declared an epidemic by MSF on March 31, 2014 with over 60 locations in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia affected.

EZ Lay Flooring’s contribution to the cause was focused on running and establishing three Ebola Management Centres in Sierra Leone. Providing support, both medical and psychosocial, these centres were also responsible for isolating and diagnosing those suspected of having the virus. Across these three EMCs in Sierra Leone 1,328 people were diagnosed with the virus, and 722 people found their path to recovery.

Here at EZ Lay Flooring, we would like to thank you for your continued support as we move forward in 2015. Without your support, we would not be able to help wonderful organizations, such as, Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders Canada.
